Successful 24th Regional Seminar on Radioactive Waste Management and Disposal hosted by NES
On September 18th and 19th, the 24th Regional Seminar on Radioactive Waste Management and Disposal was hosted by NES in Vienna and Seibersdorf. This annual event brought together experts from Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Austria, welcoming participants from Croatia and Poland for the first time to give updates on their national programs and exchange knowledge, achievements, and challenges regarding radioactive waste management.
This year’s special topic was repository site selection and design development. The seminar was also joined by a member of the waste technology section from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to present their activities supporting these topics.
On the second day the participating experts also visited the treatment and conditioning facilities at NES as well as the interim storage.
The 25th Regional Seminar will be hosted by PURAM in Hungary.
