New Handling Center starts conditioning waste
First waste drums entering the New Handling Center
On November the 14th 2016, after regulatory authorization from November the 4th, active trial operations of the New Handling Center (NHC) of Nuclear Engineering Seibersdorf GmbH (NES) began and the first drums with radioactive waste were transferred for conditioning.
The New Handling Center centralizes and renews waste treatment facilities for non-burnable waste in one building complex. The future re-conditioning of waste packages can also be carried out there.
