Students visit NES
On June the 23rd 2017 a group of interested students from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, (BOKU) studying Environment and Bio-Resources Management visited Nuclear Engineering Seibersdorf GmbH (NES). The visit was organized in cooperation with the Institute of Safety and Risk Sciences. The students heard about modern and safe treatment and storage of radioactive waste arising in Austria. They also had the opportunity to visit the – soon to be decommissioned – hot cell laboratory as well as the new treatment facility for solid radioactive waste (the New Handling Center). In concluding their visit they also could see the interim storage for conditioned radioactive waste on site.
